Microbiota e intervento di cataratta

Uno dei principali rischi per i pazienti che si sottopongono all'intervento di cataratta è rappresentato dall'infezione intraoculare.

Ciò può comportare seri problemi, tra cui la potenziale  perdita della vista per alcune forme infettive intrattabili.

In questo contesto, la valutazione del microbiota oculare può essere utile per prevenire tali complicazioni.

Uno studio recente ha dimostrato che il pretrattamento con antibiotici può influenzare la composizione del microbiota oculare e la sua risposta all'infezione postoperatoria.

Pertanto, una corretta identificazione del microbiota oculare può aiutare a identificare i pazienti a rischio e a personalizzare il trattamento antibiotico pre e postoperatorio.
